Field Research Station

Vester Field Station is located off  of Bonita Beach Road on Little Hickory Island.  Its just 12 miles from The Florida Gulf Coast University which utilizes the station for their program in Marine Sciences. Some of the research done here includes: investigating the impact of red tides on marine organisms; examining the interactions between water flows, sediment transport with implications to beach erosion and build-up, and the effects of freshwater inflows on marine organisms such as larval stages of various bivalves, fish, and crustaceans.
